THEATRE ORGAN CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Theatre Organ Club

The Theatre Organ Club (TOC) was founded in 1938 and it's objectives, in support of theatre organs and organists, include the retention of those magnificent instruments such as the Wurlitzer in the Tower Ballroom, Blackpool, together with any others installed in places of entertainment. A service is also provided to members by way of regular newsletters, giving news and information about organ concerts, feature articles, recording reviews and a members' forum. A fund exists for bona fide theatre organ maintenance or restoration and to date some 22 projects have been assisted by this. The club has a membership of about 2000 and the subscription is deliberately kept to the minimum required for membership services.

Aims: To cater for those interested in the theatre organ, to create good relationships with other groups with related objectives and to encourage and support theatre organ preservation.

The TOC will provide a service for paid-up members, including:
* regular information bulletins;
* concerts on available theatre organs;
* social activities and playing facilities;
* provision of badges, ties, etc. relating to membership;
* theatre organ recordings.

Membership: There are three membership categories:
* Full Members, paying a subscription initially, on admission, and on the same date in each succeeding year. The current subscription is £6.00.
* Associate Members, residing at the same address as a Full Member. The current subscription is £1.00 each.
* Long-term Members, paying a single subscription covering a period of not less than five years and not exceeding ten years. The payment shall be a multiple of the Full Member annual subscription at the time of acceptance, with a discount set by the Executive Committee. Long-term Membership shall not be available to a Associate.
* Honorary Membership, awarded to any person who has contributed outstanding service to the theatre organ movement.

Recording: The TOC maintains a current M.C.P.S. licence which allows members to record Club Concerts for their personal use only, subject to permission being given by the organ owner and artiste.

Membership Application Forms may be obtained from the Southern Secretary, Mr. E.G. Atkin, 3 Fairclose, Whitchurch, Hants. RG28 7AN. United Kingdom or the Northern Secretary, Mr. F. Hare, 127 Stratford Street, Leeds. LS11 6JG. United Kingdom.
